Sahiwal Encounter JIT initial report prepared: Stunning revelations made

LAHORE – The Joint Investigation Team (JIT), formed to probe into thealleged encounter of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Sahiwal hasfinalised the initial report of the deadly incident.

As per the sources, JIT has declared the law-enforcement agency officialsresponsible for the incident on Sunday.

The JIT comprising Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Intelligence Bureau(IB) and Military Intelligence (MI) officers in its initial report declaredthe CTD officials responsible for the incident after which they are likelyto be suspended.

Sources said that the initial report of the JIT would soon be prepared andhanded over to government officials.

It is pertinent here to mention that Punjab Inspector General on Saturdayhad formed a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) comprising Inter-ServicesIntelligence (ISI), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Military Intelligence (MI)officers to probe into the alleged encounter of Counter TerrorismDepartment (CTD) in Sahiwal.

Four persons including two women were shot dead by the CTD officers in apurportedly high-speed pursuit in Qadirabad area of Sahiwal city.

CTD claimed that the ‘terrorists’ were killed in an intelligence-basedoperation (IBO). Three other terrorists including Shahid Jabar and AbdulRahman managed to flee during the chase near the toll plaza of Sahiwal.

CTD claimed of confiscating explosives and weapons from the car adding thatofficers were investigating into the matter as part of the operation inFaisalabad on January 16.
