ISLAMABAD - A two-day international symposium on "Creating Water-Secure Pakistan” begins in Islamabad this afternoon (Friday)
President Dr Arif Alvi will inaugurate the symposium to be held at the Supreme Court premises.
The concluding session will be chaired by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar.
The chief justice reviewed the arrangements made for the event today.
Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the importance of the symposium saying it will help create awareness amongst masses on a very touchy issue of water.
The symposium is being organized by Law and Justice Commission on direction of Chief Justice of Pakistan to discuss issues relating to water shortage in Pakistan and immediate remedial measures.
Jurists and experts in water resource management and researchers from different countries will present their research papers in the symposium.
Themes pertaining to legal aspects of Indus Basin, construction and financing of dams, reservoirs and management of water resources will be discussed in the moot.
