UK Army Chief stunned at the professionalism of the Pak Army

RAWALPINDI: (APP) Chief of General Staff (CGS) UK Army General Sir Nicholas Patrick Carter on Wednesday said a huge credit went to the Pakistan Army for effectively dealing with the scourge of terrorism.

Recording his comments during the visit of Miramshah in North Waziristan, one of the most treacherous hilly terrain of the world, the UK Army Chief said, "Pakistan Army has been doing much in the area. It is a huge credit to Pakistan Army that it managed to clear the area and so far holds it."

Recalling the days of his appointment in Afghanistan during the war against terror, he said, "I do understand the nature of problem of this common threat we had faced."

He was also appreciative of the way the Pakistan Army had been working for the repatriation of the temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) from the area, besides undertaking development projects.

The Formation Commander of the area briefed UK Army Chief about prevailing environment in the agency, return of TDPs and development projects being undertaken by the Army.

Earlier, Gen Nicholas called on Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif here at General Headquarters (GHQ).

During the meeting, regional security issues and matters of mutual interest were discussed, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a news release.

The visiting dignitary acknowledged the sacrifices and achievements of Pakistan Army in the fight against terrorism and efforts for bringing peace and stability in the region.

Earlier on his arrival at GHQ, the UK Army Chief laid a wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. A smartly turned out contingent of the Pakistan Army presented the guard of honour to the guest.
