Seventh and final phase of Lok Sabha polls end in India

NEW DELHI - In India, the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha Election held today.

Voting took place in 59 seats, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi's constituency in Varanasi, in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Over ten crore people were eligible to vote in the phase which saw 918 candidates across seven States and one Union Territory. Polling was held in all 13 seats in Punjab and an equal number of seats in Uttar Pradesh, nine in West Bengal, eight seats each in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, four in Himachal Pradesh, three in Jharkhand and the lone seat of Chandigarh.

Repolling was also held in seven booths in Kerala's Kannur and Kasaragod Lok Sabha constituencies today following the Election Commission’s finding that bogus voting took place in the booths on April 23.

Besides the Lok Sabha seats, bypolls were also held four Assembly seats in Tamil Nadu and one in Goa.
