*ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the National Security Committee, the country’s top civil-military body, will be held today to take up the issues concerning national and regional security as well as Indian aggression along the Line of Control and Working Boundary.*

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will chair the meeting at PM House later today.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, Director General ISI Lieutenant Generl Naveed Mukhtar and other senior military as well as civil officials will attend the meeting.

The meeting comes on the heels of unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indian forces at different sectors of the Sialkot Working Boundary on Friday that killed six people, four of them belonging to the same family, and wounded 22 other civilians.

It is pertinent to mention here that this is the second huddle of the top civil-military body in less than a week as it met earlier this week to discuss the situation that stemmed from former premier Nawaz Sharif’s controversial statement about Pakistan’s alleged role in the November 2008 Mumbai attacks.

The NSC meeting, convened on a proposal of the military leadership, unanimously condemned and rejected the statement of Mr. Sharif on the Mumbai attacks, terming it “incorrect and misleading.”

The NSC clarified India, not Pakistan is responsible for a probe into the Mumbai attacks. Besides, India didn’t provide any evidence to Pakistan, delaying conclusion of the Mumbai attacks trial in Pakistan.

The participants of the meeting said they reject the PML-N Quaid’s fallacious assertions, which negated the truth.

“India on a number of occasions refused to extend cooperation in connection with the probe nor did it provide access to the key suspect behind the attacks.” “Ajmal Kasab’s execution in a hurried manner is the main reason behind the case still pending.”
