ISLAMABAD: (APP) India and Afghanistan can be beneficiary of CPEC
PML-N Senator Lt. Gen. (R) Abdul Qayyum has said that security of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is important for both Pakistan and China as the project will bring stability and development to the whole region.
Talking to a private news channel, he said that CPEC was imperative for the development of Pakistan and this would benefit the whole region.
He said that under the CPEC, new link roads and tunnels would be constructed and it would prove a game changer in the region as this corridor had great importance for China as well.
He said the corridor would shorten the distances between the linked countries and would benefit the Western part of China.
Even India and Afghanistan would also get benefits from this project, he added.
The Senator said that China and Pakistan had had deep ties adding since the inception of Pakistan, the relations between the two neighboring countries had been going strong.
He said CPEC would also increase the volume of exports as Gwadar port was the most suitable route of trade for Central Asian countries.
To a question, he said that both China and Pakistan were members of quadrilateral group on Afghanistan and had been making efforts to bring peace in that war torn country.
