Pirzada stresses need to create linkage b/w Farmers-Academia

Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada on Wednesday stressed the need for creating linkage between farmers and academia to promote innovative methods and best international practices in agriculture sector of the country.

“We need to restore agriculture land and make it more land through modern technology in a bid to enhance per acre yield in the country, he said while addressing the “National Workshop on Bio- Fertilizer Development Commercialization and legislation”. The workshop was organized by Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC). He said that crop pattern had changed across the country, where cotton production land was converting to maize and Sugarcane.

The minister said that farming and livestock sectors must be promoted through modern innovation in the country.

Riaz Pirzada said “Our big issue is environment and climate change, which is harming the production of different crops in the country.”

He added that smog and garbage are also potential threats country’s agriculture sector.

The minister said that farmers must get support from scientific research; and through soil test farmers can choose the suitable crop for their land.

Pirzada also stressed for providing suitable environment to promote sports for building healthy society in the country
