Anti-India demonstrations staged against sham Indian Parliamentary election

Indian forces ruthlessly beat up people, ransacked shops during cordon & search operation in Islamabad town.
In occupied Kashmir, forceful anti-India demonstrations were held in Srinagar and Badgam districts today (Thursday), against so-called Indian Parliamentary elections.   

Hundreds of people raising pro-freedom, anti-India and anti-election slogans marched on the streets of several poll-bound areas of Srinagar, Badgam and Ganderbal districts.

Several people were injured when Indian troops fired bullets, pellets and teargas shells on the protesters.

Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed in poll-bound Srinagar, Badgam and Ganderbal districts.

Call for the strike was given by Joint Resistance Leadership to record protests against so-called elections.

All shops and business establishments were closed while traffic was off the road. The authorities snapped mobile internet service. Train service was suspended in the Kashmir valley.

In a statement, High Court Bar Association denounced the futile exercise being carried out by India in the name of elections and urged New Delhi to withdraw its troops and hold a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement, APHC Chairman Syed Ali Gilani condemned the summoning of his son, Dr Nayeem Gilani, and the Chairman of Kashmir Economic Alliance, Muhammad Yasin Khan by NIA in New Delhi for questioning.

Gilani said such inhuman, undemocratic and unjustified acts of coercion cannot change the ground situation of occupied Kashmir.

In a statement, Democratic Freedom Party condemned the issuance of summons to Sama Shabbir, the daughter of illegally detained party Chairman Shabbir Ahmed Shah by India’s Enforcement Directorate.

Paris-based media watchdog, Reporters Without Borders in its 2019 report says reportage from journalists working for local media outlets in occupied Kashmir are often targets of violence by Indian paramilitary forces.

The journalist body said that occupied Kashmir continued to be very difficult place for the journalists to perform their professional duties.

It deplored that foreign reporters were barred from entering Kashmir where the internet service often remained disconnected.
