PM Imran Khan’s advice for the state institutions over former COAS Pervaiz Musharraf death penalty verdict

ISLAMABAD – PM Imran Khan’s advice for the state institutions over formerCOAS Pervaiz Musharraf death penalty verdict.

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday said that the institutionsshould perform their duties within their constitutional and legaljurisdiction.

This was stated by the prime minister while chairing the party’s corecommittee session. The prime minister reviewed the current politicalscenario of the country during the meeting.

The core committee held consultations over the December 17’s verdict of thespecial court which pronounced the death sentence to the former militaryruler General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf in the high treason case.

The core committee also discussed the matters relating to army chief’sextension. The meeting decided to play an active role in creating harmonyamong the national institutions and hold consultations on the strategyregarding the extension of the army chief.

On the occasion, speaking to the core committee, the prime minister saidthat confrontation among the institutions is not in country’s interest,adding the current government firmly believes in the supremacy of theConstitution and ensuring rule of law.
