Pakistan Slams Israel s Escalating Assaults on Palestinians

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strongly wordedstatement on Tuesday condemning the ongoing violence perpetrated by Israeliforces and settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. Thedeclaration highlighted repeated incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosquecompound and provocative actions against worshippers, describing these asdeliberate escalations that undermine regional stability. Officialsemphasized that such incidents not only inflame tensions but also erode theprospects for a just resolution to the longstanding conflict. The statementcalled for immediate international intervention to halt the aggression andprotect civilian lives.

In the statement, the Foreign Office asserted that these actions constituteflagrant violations of international humanitarian law and numerous UnitedNations resolutions. It pointed to the illegality of settlement expansionand military operations in occupied territories, which contravene theGeneva Conventions and Security Council mandates. Pakistani diplomats urgedthe global community, particularly the UN Security Council, to enforceaccountability and impose sanctions on those responsible. The ministryreiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for Palestinian self-determinationand the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as itscapital, aligning with the two-state solution framework.

Recent weeks have witnessed a surge in settler attacks across the WestBank, targeting Palestinian villages and farmlands with increased frequencyand brutality. Reports indicate demolitions of homes, uprooting of olivegroves, and assaults on unarmed civilians, exacerbating humanitariandistress in an already volatile region. Since Israel’s occupation of theWest Bank in 1967, more than 500,000 Israeli settlers have establishedcommunities there, fragmenting Palestinian lands and complicating peaceefforts. Human rights organizations have documented over 1,200settler-related incidents this year alone, underscoring the systematicnature of the displacement.

Pakistan’s condemnation reflects its consistent foreign policy stance onthe Palestinian cause, rooted in solidarity with Muslim-majority nationsand advocacy for oppressed peoples worldwide. The government has previouslyraised these issues in multilateral forums, including the Organisation ofIslamic Cooperation. As clashes intensify, Islamabad warns of broaderrepercussions, including heightened risks of regional conflagration.Diplomatic channels remain open for dialogue, but Pakistani leaders stressthat true peace requires ending the occupation and upholding Palestinianrights without delay.

This development occurs amid global calls for de-escalation, with theinternational community closely monitoring the situation. Pakistan pledgescontinued diplomatic efforts to amplify Palestinian voices on the worldstage.
