Pakistan FM Dar holds crucial talks with President Putin in Moscow

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held asignificant meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow onTuesday, focusing on enhancing bilateral and regional cooperation betweenPakistan and Russia.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai CooperationOrganisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government summit, where leaders ofmember states were also present, according to a statement issued by theForeign Office spokesperson.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen cooperation indiverse fields, with particular emphasis on trade, energy, andconnectivity. President Putin warmly welcomed the participating leaders andexpressed Russia’s desire to deepen economic collaboration across theregion.

During the interaction, Deputy Prime Minister Dar underlined thatsustainable development is intrinsically depends on peace and stability. Hestressed the need for collective efforts to address common challengesfacing SCO member states.

Earlier, while addressing the SCO summit, Senator Dar highlighted theorganisation’s growing potential to effectively respond to emergencysituations and promote humanitarian cooperation at the regional level.

He noted that the SCO platform provides unique opportunities for membercountries to coordinate policies on security, economic integration, anddisaster management, thereby contributing to lasting peace in the widerEurasian region.

The visit underscores Pakistan’s active engagement within the SCO frameworkand its keen interest in expanding multifaceted ties with Russia,especially in the wake of evolving geopolitical dynamics.
