ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held detailed talks withSaudi Arabia’s Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki on Wednesday to furtherstrengthen security cooperation between the two countries, the interiorministry announced.
The meeting took place at the Saudi embassy in the federal capital wherethe ambassador warmly received the minister. Both sides expressedsatisfaction over the growing bilateral relations in diverse fields.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in security-relatedmatters and exploring new avenues for collaboration. Pakistan and SaudiArabia already enjoy deep-rooted economic and defence ties that have gainedfresh momentum in recent years.
The two nations signed a landmark defence agreement in September underwhich any armed attack on either country would be considered an attack onboth, marking a significant milestone in their strategic partnership.
During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Malki strongly condemned last week’sterrorist attack near a district court in Islamabad that claimed twelvelives and injured thirty-six others. He conveyed profound grief over theloss of innocent lives.
The Saudi envoy extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families andprayed for the early recovery of the injured. Minister Naqvi thanked theambassador for the expression of solidarity in Pakistan’s fight againstterrorism.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to work closely against commonsecurity challenges facing the region. The meeting reflected the brotherlyrelations and mutual trust that characterise Pakistan-Saudi ties.
