Important decisions taken in federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad with PM Khan in Chair: Report

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister chairing the federal cabinet meeting inIslamabad today expressed the determination to pass on the fruits ofimproving economy to the people.

Briefing newsmen on cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday, SpecialAssistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting, Dr. FirdousAshiq Awan along with Law Minister Dr. Farogh Naseem, said Prime Ministerupdated the cabinet on improving economic indicators of the country.

Congratulating the government’s economic team on these achievements, hesaid for the first time current account deficit has decreased in thecountry due to measures taken by the government’s economic team. He saidimprovement of economic indicators has restored the confidence of local andforeign investors.

The Prime Minister directed all ministries and departments to accelerateefforts in implementation of people friendly policies of the government.The Prime Minister directed that each ministry should assess itsperformance on monthly basis regarding providing relief to people.

The cabinet discussed the importance of alternative energy in the overallenergy mix and how to increase its share. It approved the new renewableenergy policy in principle.

Special Assistant said the cabinet endorsed the decisions of EconomicCoordination Committee’s last meeting.

It also formally approved the decisions made in JCC meeting betweenPakistan and China.

The cabinet also gave approval to National Tariff Policy.

The cabinet discussed the issue of appointments at 134 vacant senior postsin various ministries and departments. The forum was apprised that on 89positions, people are working on additional charge.
