New York: Pakistan’s outgoing Permanent Representative to the UnitedNations, Dr. Maleeha Lodhi, paid a farewell call on UN Secretary GeneralAntonio Guterres in New York and apprised him about the terrifyingsituation of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, GNN reported.
In her farewell call on Antonio Guterres, Maleeha Lodhi thanked him for theclose cooperation that the Pakistan Mission in New York had with him andhis office during her tenure.
Dr. Maleeha Lodhi briefed him on the plight of the people in occupied Jammuand Kashmir who are suffering under a cruel lockdown. She also thanked theUN secretary general for his statement of August 8 and subsequently on thesituation in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The UN Secretary-General has expressed his “gratitude and admiration” forMaleeha Lodhi.
Officers and staff of the Pakistan Mission to the UN observed 5 minutes ofsilence to express solidarity with the people of IoJ&K who continue tosuffer under a continuing lockdown and curfew.
Ambassador Munir Akram will replace Dr Maleeha Lodhi, who has held theoffice of Pakistan’s envoy to the UN since February 2015.
Akram has served as Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UNpreviously as well, holding the office for six years between 2002 and 2008.
