China’s NDRC vows to make investment in energy sector in Pakistan

SUZHOU – Lian Weiliang, Vice Chairman of China’s National Development andReform Commission (NDRC) has vowed to enhance the energy investment inPakistan.

NDRC on Friday told Pakistan’s Energy Minister Omar Ayub that China wouldcontinue to complement Pakistan’s efforts in reforming and expanding itsenergy sector.

“Pakistan has great potential to grow and its energy market will witnessmajor expansion in the coming years and China will continue to complementPakistan’s efforts in reforming and expanding its energy sector,” VC NDRCtold Omar Ayub who met him here in China’s Suzhou city.

During the meeting, Lian, a minister-level official of The People’sRepublic of China, recognizing the imperatives of further reinforcing tiesbetween two iron brothers, maintained that both countries could regularlyreview the progress of various energy projects and jointly formulatestrategies and plans to oversee their speedy and timely execution.

He particularly stressed that Chinese leadership at the highest levelremained committed to further invest in Pakistan’s energy sector for itsconsolidation and self-sufficiency

Omar Ayub thanked Lian for inviting Pakistan’s delegation to attend theBelt and Road Energy Ministerial Conference, which was held in Suzhouyesterday, and hoped that the conference under China’s visionary leadershipwould play a critical role in rebuilding and diversifying regional energylandscape.

The federal minister for energy also took the opportunity to brief hisinterlocutor about the energy priorities of the PTI government.
