American top official Elizabeth Horst stated that the United States willcontinue to support fair elections in Pakistan, ones that are free frommanipulation and allow people to decide who governs them. Transparentelections are the solution to the ongoing crisis in Pakistan.
According to international news agencies, addressing a seminar, ElizabethHorst emphasized that Pakistan should implement the recommended reforms bythe International Monetary Fund because it is the only way to stabilize itsailing economy. She clarified that the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan hasprovided an opportunity for the U.S. to view its relationship with Pakistanas mutually beneficial, encompassing economic well-being and politicalaspects.
Referring to the political aspect of this relationship, she mentioned thatthe United States supports democracy in Pakistan but does not endorse anyparticular individual or group. She stated that they support the Pakistanipeople’s right to elect their next government.
