Jehangir Khan Tareen refuses you appear before FIA in money laundering case

Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen on Saturdayexcused himself from appearing before Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) inmoney laundering and sugar mills’ inquiry, citing health issues.

Jahangir Tareen in his statement said that he is currently receivingmedical treatment in London and cannot appear before FIA in his personalcapacity.

“I need time to answer the queries of the FIA”, he added.

Earlier on Friday, Jahangir Tareen’s son Ali Tareen excused himself fromappearing before the FIA.

“Currently I’m in London to look after my ailing father and cannot appearbefore FIA”, Ali Tareen said in his statement.

On Thursday, the FIA had summoned Jahangir Tareen and his son Ali Tareen toappear before it.

According to details, the investigation agency summoned the PTI leader inhis personal capacity on September 19. A joint investigation team willprobe him in the sugar scandal.

On the other hand, the investigation watchdog summoned Jahagir Tareen’s sonAli Khan Tareen on September 18 to probe into the matter.

It is pertinent to remember that the Supreme Court of Pakistan on September2, suspended Sindh High Court’s decision to quash Sugar Inquiry Commissionand its report.

The court had issued notices to the sugar mills owners and sought theirresponse in this regard.
