ISLAMABAD – The Pakistani Academy Selection Committee has officiallyannounced the Pakistani movie for the Oscar consideration.
Pakistani movie *Cake* starring Sanam Saeed, Aamina Sheikh and Adnan Malikhas been selected for Oscar consideration in the ‘Foreign Language FilmAward’ category at the 91st Academy Awards scheduled to take place onFebruary 24, 2019.
The final nominees for all award categories including Best Foreign LanguageFilm will be selected by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences inJanuary 2019. The complete and final list of Oscar nominees will beannounced on January 22, 2019.
The selection committee, chaired by two-time Academy Award and Emmy winningdocumentary filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, includes novelists KamilaShamshi and HM Naqvi; actor and director Saira Kazmi; singers Hadiqa Kiani,Ali Sethi and Zoe Viccaji; journalist and author Nadeem Farooq Paracha;stylist and enterprenuer Nabila Maqsood; radio jockey Khalid Malik; andactor Faysal Qureshi.

Speaking about the honour, the film’s director and writer Asim Abbasi said,“I am extremely honoured to have *Cake*representing Pakistan this year, andgrateful to the selection committee for considering it worthy.”
