BEIJING – Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that China will continue tosupport Pakistan as a strategic partner.
He was talking to Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Beijingtoday (Wednesday).
The Chinese President said Pakistan is China’s time tested iron friend andPakistan Army has a pivotal role in this lasting relationship.
He appreciated professionalism of Pakistan armed forces and acknowledgedtheir role in regional peace and stability.
Xi Jinping said those who oppose Belt and Road Initiative and CPEC willnever succeed as this is an initiative for peace and development not onlyfor China but for region and beyond.
The Army Chief said Belt and Road Initiative with CPEC as its flagshipproject is destined to succeed despite all odds and Pakistan Army shallensure security of CPEC at all costs.

He said while we work for peace, we need to stay strong to thwart designsof all inimical forces challenging our resolve and we greatly value Chinesesupport in this regard.
The Army Chief thanked the Chinese President for acknowledgingprofessionalism and contributions of Pakistan Army towards regional peaceand stability.
He said Pakistan understands the importance of peace and has given lot ofsacrifices for achieving this cherished goal.
The two sides discussed regional security environment, challenges and wayforward.
