Big Breakthrough Development Reported Between Islamabad and  Dhaka

*ISLAMABAD:* Pakistan and Bangladesh are set to formalise a sister citypartnership between their capitals, Islamabad and Dhaka, in a move aimed atstrengthening diplomatic, cultural, and urban cooperation, officialsconfirmed on Monday.

The development was announced after a meeting between *Chairman CapitalDevelopment Authority (CDA) Muhammad Ali Randhawa* and *Bangladesh HighCommissioner Muhammad Iqbal Hussain Khan* at the CDA Headquarters.Strengthening Cultural Bonds

Chairman Randhawa highlighted the historical and brotherly ties betweenPakistan and Bangladesh, stressing the importance of enhancingcollaboration in *urban development, cultural exchanges, and environmentalinitiatives*.

“Pakistan holds its brotherly country, Bangladesh, in high esteem,”Randhawa said, assuring full CDA support in formalising the partnership.

Sustainable Development & Green Initiatives

The meeting also reviewed progress on a *Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)* toestablish the sister city relationship.

High Commissioner Khan admired Islamabad’s beauty and its recentdevelopment projects, showing keen interest in *sustainable urban planningand green infrastructure*. He also welcomed the chance to participate inIslamabad’s *tree plantation campaign*, reflecting growing enthusiasm forjoint environmental efforts.

Chairman Randhawa briefed the envoy on several ongoing developmentprojects, including *infrastructure upgrades, eco-friendly initiatives, andmonsoon preparedness measures*.Strengthening Bilateral Ties

This initiative comes amid a *renewed diplomatic warming* between Pakistanand Bangladesh in 2025.

On *August 16*, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting *AttaullahTarar* reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to stronger ties during his meetingwith High Commissioner Khan. The minister emphasized expanding cooperationin *politics, trade, culture, media, film, and digital content*.

The upcoming Islamabad–Dhaka sister city agreement is expected to open newavenues of collaboration, cementing *people-to-people connections* andadvancing shared goals of *sustainable and cultural development*.
