Pakistan Excels on Global Stage, Clinches Twin Titles at Bahrain Championship

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan made a resounding mark on the international snooker scene on Friday, as Mohammad Asif and Muhammad Hasnain captured the Masters and Under-17 titles at the IBSF World Snooker Championship 2025 in Bahrain.

In a gripping World Masters final, Asif battled India’s Brijesh Damani in a tightly contested match. After trading frames in a tense showdown, Asif held his composure in the deciding frame to clinch a 4-3 victory and add another prestigious title to his name.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz praised Asif’s triumph, calling it a proud moment for the country. “Mohammad Asif has made Pakistan proud by defeating his Indian rival with remarkable skill, determination, and hard work,” said a statement from her PML-N party.

Asif secured his spot in the final after defeating India’s Manan Chandra 4-2 in Thursday’s semifinal at the Crowne Plaza in Bahrain.

Meanwhile, young cueist Muhammad Hasnain delivered a dominant performance in the Under-17 final, overpowering Wales’ Riley Powell 4-0 to claim the championship.

“The young prodigy stayed composed under pressure and demonstrated maturity beyond his years,” the IBSF noted in its report.
