7 Pakistani Universities in the list of World top 1000 universities

ISLAMABAD – The UK-based rating agency, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) hasreleased its rankings with seven Pakistani universities making the list ofthe world’s top 1000 universities.

Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) has toppedthe list of Pakistani universities in the rankings. Ranking 375 on the QSwith an overall score 29.2, it stands among the world’s top 500universities. Moreover, the institution has improved its position from 397last year.

National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad has alsoimproved its position significantly from 417 to 400. Its overall score is28.2.——————————

The third Pakistani university in the list is Quaid-e-Azam University thatoccupies the ranking range of 511-520, marking an improvement from 551-560last year.

As for the other universities, COMSATS, University of Engineering &Technology (UET) Lahore, and University of Punjab ranked in 801-1000.COMSATS plunged down a few slots this year, as it was ranked in 751-800last year. Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) was ranked inthe range 701-750. It cannot be determined whether the university improvedor not, as QS only gives only a range for low-ranked universities.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) of the US has topped the chartswith a score of 100, retaining the spot for the eighth consecutive year.The second position has been held by Stanford University having an overallscore of 98.4 and the third by Harvard University with an overall score of97.4.
