Pakistan – Turkey decide to further enhance defence and military ties

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and Turkey at their 14th round of high-level militarydialogue in Rawalpindi on Friday agreed to further boost cooperation indefence and security fields

Three-day 14th Round of Pakistan-Turkey High Level Military Dialogue Groupmeeting concluded in Rawalpindi today.

Secretary Defence Lt General (Retd) Ikram-ul Haq led Pakistan delegationwhile Turkish delegation was headed by Turkish Deputy Chief of GeneralStaff Lt General Metin Gurak.

The two sides resolved to work together for enhanced cooperation in defenceand security related fields.

Prior to the delegation-level talks, the Turkish Deputy Chief of GeneralStaff had a separate meeting with the Secretary Defence.

Matters of mutual interest, including whole spectrum of bilateral defencecooperation, were discussed.

Both sides deliberated upon various areas of interest, including security,counter-terrorism and prevailing regional environment particularly withreference to Afghanistan and the Middle East.

Lt General Metin Gurak also held meetings with the Chairman Joint Chief ofStaff Committee and the Chief of General Staff.

During these meetings, matters relating to defence cooperation coveringtraining, exchange visits and co-production of defence equipment werediscussed.
