*GUJAR KHAN: Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) has made an oildiscovery near Gujar Khan in Rawalpindi District, Radio Pakistan reported.*

According to the spokesperson of the company, it is the second consecutivediscovery in Ghauri Block, which is expected to provide 372 barrels ofcrude oil on daily basis.

The spokesperson added that the latest discovery will help cope with theenergy crisis in the country.

Recently, sources reported on April 10 that the Eni led drilling forexploration of oil and gas reserves in Pakistani waters achieved a majorsuccess.

The drilling work of Kekra-I project has reached to 5000 meters depth andnearing end to its target of 5800 meters, sources said.
