NEW DELHI – An FIR was lodged against spokesperson of Congress party PawanKhera, accusing him of promoting enmity by making defamatory statementagainst Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at Gomtinagar police station onMonday.
The FIR was lodged on the complaint of BJP workers, Hindustan Times hasreported.
According to the complaint lodged by one Shivam Tripathi and others, Khera‘tried to promote enmity by making derogatory comments against PrimeMinister Narendra Modi’.
As per the complaint, Khera allegedly likened Modi to Masood Azhar, aPakistan based terrorist, Osama bin Laden, Dawood Ibrahim and dreadedterror outfit ISIS, during a debate on a news channel.
Based on the complaint, police lodged an FIR against Khera under section153A (promoting enemity)
295A (deliberate and malicious attempt to outrage religious feelings) and505(public mischief) of IPC.
SSP Lucknow Kalanidhi Naithani said the matter was being investigated andsuitable action will be taken against the accused person post investigation.
