ISLAMABAD – In an unprecedented move, PTI government targets $20 billionsIT Exports from Pakistan. Under the Digital Policy programme the governmentwas aiming to increase the size of Pakistani Information and CommunicationTechnology (ICT) industry to US $ 20 billion.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has called on Mr Sergi Herrero, Group ChiefOperating Officer of VEON (parent company of Jazz Pakistan).
During the meeting Prime minister said that under the Digital Policy thegovernment was aiming to increase the size of Pakistani Information andCommunication Technology (ICT) industry to US $ 20 billion in the next fewyears.
The Premier also appreciated the long association of VEON with Pakistanhaving US$ 9 billion investment and serving 60 million subscribers withmultitude of services.
Chief Executive Officer of Jazz Pakistan Aamir Ibrahim, Chief Corporate andRegulatory Affairs Syed Fakhar Ahmed and Head of Digital Financial Servicesof Jazz Elias Yazbeck accompanied the Group CEO of VEON.
Chairman Board of Investment Syed Zubair Haider Gilani, Chairman PakistanTelecommunication Authority (PTA) Maj. Gen. (R) Aamir Azeem Bajwa, PrimeMinister’s Focal Person for Digital Pakistan Ms. Tania Aidrus and seniorofficials were also present during the meeting.
The Group CEO of VEON Sergi Herrero thanked the Prime Minister and thegovernment for providing competitive and transparent working environmentfor the telecom companies.
He informed that Jazz Pakistan has launched “Internet for all” campaignthat includes affordable mobile phones with internet connectivity forsocial media, Jazz Cash and the Prime Minister’s Citizens Portal.
