MAIMANA,Afghanistan – An eminent commander of the hardliner Islamic State(IS) was arrested in Maimana, the capital city ofAfghanistan’s northern Faryab province on Friday, an army spokesman in thenorthern region Abdul HadiJamal said Saturday.

“An IS notorious commander who disguised himself as ordinary man and wasplanning to move to someunknown place was identified by law enforcing agencies in Maimana city onFriday afternoon andarrested,” Jamal told Xinhua.

Without revealing his name and providing more details, the official saidthe investigation is underway.
