KARACHI – Adviser to the Prime Minister (PM) for Commerce and InvestmentAbdul Razak Dawood has vowed to take exports to $27 billion in 2019 fromexisting levels of $20 billion.
He on Saturday asserted that the current account deficit (CAD) has been amajor challenge for the government, and effective measures have been takento fix it on an urgent basis.
Reportedly, he addressed a conference in Karachi where he stated that thebusiness community and the government could work together to overcomechallenges.
Regarding exports, he said that the government has been working on astrategy to enhance exports.
“Exports are expected to increase up to $27 billion for this year,” hesaid, adding that December 2018 showed better results as compare toDecember 2017.
Concerning the food and agriculture group Cargill, which has shown a keeninterest in investing about $200 million in Pakistan, Dawood claimed thatthe group has sought to invest in seed oil business.
