He said robotics and automation are key areas offocus, both as a potential new growth area, and as enablers to help theenterprises adopt advanced manufacturing processes to increaseproductivity. “We live in an era where robotics and automation technologyhave brought fundamental changes in industries,” he observed.Almas Hyder added that advantages commonly attributed to automation includehigher production rates and increased productivity, more efficient use ofmaterials, better product quality, improved safety, shorter workweeks forlabour, and reduced factory lead times. Higher output and increasedproductivity have been two of the biggest reasons in justifying the use ofautomation.
Despite the claims of high quality from good workmanship by humans, automated systems typically perform the manufacturing process with lessvariability than human workers, resulting in greater control andconsistency of product quality. Also, increased process control makes moreefficient use of materials, resulting in less scrap, he mentioned.About SPEL, Almas Hyder said the company had done miracles after itsfoundation and introduced many items first time in Pakistan. He said that difference between filer and non-filer is shrinking the automarket as non-filer cannot purchase vehicles.
