Parliament is the Supreme institution of the country: CJP

ISLAMABAD – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar hassaid that they respect the parliament and consider it a supreme institution.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by CJP Justice Mian SaqibNisar heard the Katas Raj temple case.

In today’s proceedings, the local administration presented report in thetop court regarding filling of Katas Raj temple pond to eight feet to whichJustice Mian Saqib Nisar remarked that the pond should be filled.

He remarked that the issues of Sikh and Christian community will also beresolved.

The CJP observed that they respect the parliament and consider it a supremeinstitution.

The apex court also expressed anger over the absence of Evacuee Trust Boardchairman Siddiqueul Farooq.

Justice Saqib Nisar asked why didn’t the Evacuee Trust Board chairmanappeared before the court despite repeatedly asking him to appear beforethe court.

The CJP while summoning the property and income details the Evacuee TrustBoard observed that the cement factories have been affecting theunderground water level.

The court also issued notice to cement factory owners and adjourned thehearing for two weeks.
