Despite the ongoing financial crisis in the country, the government of Punjab has decided to increase the traveling and daily allowances for government employees within the province. This move, as per an official notification, encompasses various grades of government employees, with different increments.
To elaborate, employees belonging to grades 1 to 4 will now receive a boost of Rs. 400 in their daily allowance. Similarly, those in grades 5 to 11 will also enjoy a daily allowance increase of Rs. 400.
Moving up the grade scale, employees in the 12 to 16 range will experience a significant rise in their daily allowance, now standing at Rs. 2,160 compared to the prior amount of Rs. 1,440. At the highest echelons of the government hierarchy, grade 22 officers will now receive an allowance of Rs. 7,200, a notable increase from the previous Rs. 4,800.
Additionally, for grade 17 and 18 officers, their allowance has been adjusted to Rs. 3,840, and employees in grades 19 and 20 will witness an increment to Rs. 4,920 in their allowances.
Notably, these changes don't just affect daily allowances. The traveling allowance has also been augmented. Public transport allowances have been raised from Rs. 5 to Rs. 7.5 per kilometer, while those using personal vehicles will now receive Rs. 15 per kilometer instead of the previous Rs. 10. This marks a significant adjustment in allowances for government employees in Punjab, providing them with improved financial support despite the economic challenges faced by the region.
