The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has removed Sarfaraz Ahmed from captaincy from all formats with immediate effect, according to reports.
Various journalists and media outlets have confirmed this news. However, the official confirmation is pending from PCB.
According to sources, Azhar Ali will take up the responsibility of Test captaincy whereas Muhammad Rizwan will replace Sarfaraz and become the vice-captain.
Babar Azam and Imad Wasim are tipped to take over one-day international and T20I captaincy as well.
It is worth mentioning that the media had put extreme pressure on Sarfaraz as of late following his performance against Sri Lanka. He stepped down from the Sindh captaincy as well, due to the pressure.
It remains to be seen whether Sarfaraz has stepped down from international captaincy himself as well or whether he has been removed by PCB.
Simultaneously, some reports are also suggesting that Misbah-ul-Haq was also not happy with Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy which also played a role.
