India - Afghanistan nexus has failed in Baluchistan: Former CM Baluchistan

HYDERABAD: (APP) Former chief minister Balochistan Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch alleging India and Afghanistan of trying to take advantage of some internal issues of Balochistan said the situation was now entirely different and both the countries could not succeed to achieve their nefarious goals.

Talking to media persons here at Hyderabad Press Club after addressing the members of Sindh High Court Bar Association Hyderabad on Tuesday, he said the government had the evidences of interference of the governments of both the neighbouring countries in Balochistan. As a result of the efforts of the government the situation had been improved in the province in positive direction.

He said regional peace was essential for development while dialogues with the neighbouring countries were necessary to maintain complete peace in the region. Unfortunately due to long periods of dictatorship, democracy could not flourish in the past while peace in the region could be brought with strong democratic system in the country, he added.

Terming continuity of democracy in the country essential he said, the supremacy of democracy could not be established until true representation of common people in the parliament was not ensured.

He said all the provinces of the country should jointly make efforts for combating terrorism. Besides, he said the issues of Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa provinces could also be resolved through formation of join strategy. The country could not accomplish the task of development without overcoming the issue of corruption, he remarked.

Dawood Ahmadzai and Brahamdagh Bugti and others in London, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch said efforts were underway to resolve the issues of the province through dialogues.

Responding to a question, the former Chief Minister Balochistan said his party supported the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project, however, his party was of the opinion that all ports of the country should be handed over to respective provinces.

About the performance of his government, the Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch said that during two and half years tenure, his government brought significant changes in education sector with eradication of corruption in Public Service Commission of the province. "We have served the people of the province without any discrimination and no one can level allegation against him about disloyalty with the masses", he said.

During his tenure of government, he informed that effective measures were adopted to root out corruption which he said was the root cause of destroying the system. Besides, five thousand teachers were appointed through NTS, he said and added that those who left the province now were returning to their homes.
