Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed says Pakistan Railways has not increased the fares of trains despite the increase in oil prices in international market.
Speaking at a meeting of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Railways in Islamabad, he however said the fares for AC class are likely to be enhanced after Eid.
The meeting was briefed about the fiscal situation of Pakistan Railways for first six months of the present government.
It was informed that Pakistan Railways earned revenue amounting to over twenty-five billion rupees mainly from passenger trains as compared to over twenty-three billion rupees during the corresponding period last year.
