World peace can’t be achieved by fanning hatred against Muslims: President

KARACHI: President Dr Arif Alvi said world leaders needed to be cautious in selection of words in their speeches as global peace could not be achieved by fanning hatred against Muslims.

Talking to media-persons after visiting the families of Pakistani nationals, who were martyred in the terrorist attack at mosques in Christchurch city of New Zealanad, here the president said it took long to suppress the flames of hatred and such issues were not easily solvable.

He said the Christchurch attack was the consequence of the Islamophobia created across the world.

The president visited the family of late Zeeshan Ahmed, who embraced martyrdom in the attack along with his parents. Earlier, he also visited the family of Syed Areeb Ahmed, another victim of the attack.

He offered Fateha and prayed for the peace of departed souls. He also expressed sympathies and solidarity with the grieving families and prayed for courage to them to bear the loss with fortitude.

The president said the government was extending all out assistance to the victim families.
