ISLAMABAD: (APP) The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday submitted reply before the Supreme Court over the missing election record of 29 polling stations of NA-110 Sialkot.

The seat was won by Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif in the general election 2013.

ECP Secretary ECP Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad, in the reply, stated that in compliance of the apex court directions the Returning Officer and District Accounts Officer were directed to search the missing polling bags and also search the counterfoils in the polling bags of the correspondending polling stations of provincial assembly constituencies falling in NA-110.

The Returning Officer had transmitted the counterfoils retrieved from the corresponding polling bags of provincial assembly constituties to National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). However, he had reported that now the counterfoils of NA-110 with respect to the Polling Station No 132 were missing, besides those of polling stations No 118 and 121, it stated.

The reply further stated that the responsibility of missing polling bags squarely lies on the DAO/TO concerned.

It may be mentioned that the three-member Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has sought a detailed report from the ECP Secretary regarding the missing election record of 29 polling stations of NA-110.

The bench was hearing the appeal of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf candidate Usman Dar against the rejection of his petition by the Election Tribunal.
