The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Wednesday that security forces successfully thwarted an attempt by at least seven terrorists to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district. According to the military’s media wing, the incident occurred on April 16 (Tuesday) when a group of seven terrorists was detected near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Spinkai area of Ghulam Khan in the tribal district.
Upon detection, the security forces swiftly surrounded the infiltrators and engaged them effectively. Following an intense exchange of fire, all seven terrorists were neutralized. The ISPR emphasized that a substantial quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the deceased terrorists, underscoring the severity of the threat they posed.
Furthermore, the ISPR's statement underscored Pakistan's consistent calls to the Taliban-led interim Afghan government to enhance border management measures on their side of the border. The military urged the interim Afghan authorities to fulfill their obligations and prevent the exploitation of Afghan soil by terrorists for launching attacks against Pakistan.
The ISPR reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to securing its borders and eradicating terrorism from the country. It emphasized that the security forces of Pakistan remain resolute in their determination to counter the menace of terrorism.
This recent incident echoes Pakistan's repeated appeals to Afghan authorities to take decisive action against terrorists exploiting Afghanistan's territory to launch attacks inside Pakistan.
Just last month, Pakistan conducted an intelligence-based anti-terrorist operation inside Afghanistan targeting terrorists associated with the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), further illustrating the gravity of the cross-border terrorism threat.
