LAHORE: Acting Punjab Governor Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that traders’ community was the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, which always played an important role in the country’s progress and development.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a 40-member delegation of Pakistan Trade Alliance led by its central president Muhammad Ali Mian and Lahore president Nasir Hameed Khan at Governor’s House. Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said the government was taking all steps to resolve the problems of traders.
He said the PTI government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan was putting efforts to steer the country out of crises especially economic crisis.
He urged the traders to form a committee for evolving a manifesto to resolve their issues. The acting governor said that he had provided best facilities to traders and businessmen when he was chief minister Punjab.
On the occasion, PTA’s central president Muhammad Ali Mian and Lahore president Nasir Hameed Khan thanked Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and said the government should put in place traders’ friendly tax reforms for the betterment of traders.
The delegation comprised Shabbir Sial, Ansar Zaheer Butt, Hamayun Iqbal, Zubair Ahmad, Muhammad Arshad, Syed Majid Bukhari, Irfan Iqbal, Zubair Ahmad Ansari, Khwaja Khawar Rasheed and Javed Butt.
