Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and HumanResource Development Syed Zulfikar Abass Bukhari has said nine hundred andeighty thousand Pakistanis have been sent abroad for employment by theincumbent government in the last two years.
In a message on the occasion of World Migrants day being observed today, hesaid that Pakistan recorded 6.75 percent growth in economy contribution ofOverseas Pakistanis in country’s GDP.
He said Pakistan received a record 21.84 billion dollars as remittancesover the previous financial year despite the outbreak of COVID-19.
He said bilateral Memorandums of Understanding in the field of labour andmanpower have been signed with Saudi Arabia, Algeria, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar,Oman, Malaysia, South Korea, Bahrain, Japan and others.
Moreover, MOUs with Spain, South Africa, Syria, Ecuador, Ukraine, Botswanaand Azerbaijan are in the pipeline.
