TEHRAN, IRNA – Iran Interior Ministrer Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli called forreleasing all Iranian abducted border guards.
‘Iran is ready for establishing cooperation with Pakistan for conductingoperation to confront outlaws inside Pakistan,’ Rahmani Fazli toldreporters on Saturday.
The Pakistan government has so far maintained good cooperation with Iran,he added.
Fourteen Iranian Basij (volunteer forces) and border guard forces wereabducted by terrorists in Mirjaveh border point with Pakistan inSistan-Baluchestan Province on October 15.
Five of the guards were freed on Thursday, IRGC commander Major GeneralMohammad Ali Jafari earlier said.
He said the hostage takers are trying to have a number of their politicalcriminals released but basically it will not be wise for the IslamicRepublic of Iran to bow to the demand.
Fazli also urged the Pakistan government to reinforce security cooperationat border points.
Referring to negotiations with his Pak counterpart, he said Pakistaniminister vowed to maintain security cooperation.
Iran and Pakistan have joint committees on border security to perform jointintelligence operations at common border points, he reiterated.
