Former senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar strongly criticized the detention ofPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Parvez Elahi, suggesting that allhis problems could be resolved if he were to announce his departure fromthe party during a press conference.
Khokhar stated, “The bail and arrest of Chaudhry Parvez Elahi for more than12 times is a mockery of court orders and is condemnable.” He went on toemphasize that it’s a “fact” that if Elahi were to hold a press conferenceand part ways with PTI, it would resolve not only his issues but also thoseof others.
Khokhar cautioned against treating politicians like sheep, as it has notyielded positive results in the past and is unlikely to do so in thefuture. These remarks from the former senator came shortly after ParvezElahi, who had previously served as Punjab chief minister, faced anotherlegal case.
A court approved his temporary remand to Lahore at the request of Punjab’sAnti-Corruption Establishment (ACE). This new case in Lahore involvesallegations of misusing his power and position to make changes within theprovincial bureaucracy.
Elahi had already been sent to jail on judicial remand in a separate caserelated to an attack on the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC). The approval ofhis one-day transitory remand was granted by ATC judge Abual HasnatZulqarnain after considering arguments presented by the anti-graftdepartment.
