Pakistan PM Imran Khan held telephonic conversation with key European Country counterpart

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan held a telephonic conversation withhis Swedish Counterpart Stefan Lofven on Wednesday and discussed situationin Indian Occupied Kashmir.

The Prime Minister highlighted India’s illegal and unilateral steps of 5thAugust to change the disputed status of the Occupied Kashmir and to alterits demographic structure.

He underlined that these steps are in violation of United Nations SecurityCouncil resolutions and international law.

Highlighting the dire human rights and humanitarian situation, the PrimeMinister called for immediate lifting of lockdown and curfew in place for45 days, removal of restrictions on movement, provision of access tohumanitarian organizations and respect for the rights and freedom of theKashmiri people.

Imran Khan stressed that the international community must urge India tocomply with its obligations under international human rights conventions.

Prime Minister Lofven expressed concern over the human rights situation andhighlighted the importance of de-escalation of the situation and resolutionof issues through dialogue.

The two leaders agreed to stay in touch and continue to work together forpeace and stability in the region.
