A breakthrough reported between government and the opposition parties

ISLAMABAD – A breakthrough has been reported between the government andopposition parties on Tuesday.

Both have agreed on the formation of a special committee to probe riggingallegations during the July 25 polls and a resolution was passed in theNational Assembly in this regard.

NA Speaker Asad Qaiser chaired a session which was attended by PrimeMinister Imran Khan, federal cabinet members and leaders of oppositionparties.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan presented theresolution for the formation of a special committee to probe rigging in the2018 General Election. The resolution was then passed by the NA.

Taking to the floor, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said thegovernment and opposition have agreed on the formation of a specialcommittee to probe allegations.

“Government and opposition will have equal representation in thecommittee,” he assured.
