JEDDAH / RIYADH, August 18, 2025 — Saudi Arabia’s leadership has conveyed heartfelt condolences to Pakistan over the devastating flash floods that struck its northern regions, causing widespread loss of life and leaving many injured or missing.
King Salman expressed deep sympathy in a cable to President Asif Ali Zardari, stating, “We extend our deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to you, the families of the deceased, and the people of Pakistan. May God grant mercy to the departed, patience to their families, swift recovery to the injured, and safe return to the missing.” Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also sent a message of sympathy, offering his heartfelt prayers for the victims and their families.
Torrential monsoon rains triggered flash floods, landslides, and cloudbursts across northern Pakistan, particularly in the mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The death toll has climbed, with reports varying between 274 and 344, while many remain unaccounted for.
In addition to condolences, Saudi Arabia has pledged full support for relief efforts, promising humanitarian assistance and affirming its solidarity with Pakistan in this time of crisis. This outreach highlights the depth of bilateral relations and reflects Riyadh’s readiness to stand by Pakistan during a national tragedy.
