ISLAMABAD – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says Pakistan has decidedto intensify its lobbying efforts to effectively highlight the prevailingsituation in occupied Kashmir.
He was addressing a news conference along with DG ISPR Major General AsifGhafoor in Islamabad on Saturday after a meeting of the special committeeon Kashmir which discussed the future course of action on Kashmir dispute.
Giving details of the decisions taken in the meeting, the foreign ministersaid it has been decided to establish a Kashmir Cell in the Foreign Officein order to give impetus to the ongoing efforts and pursue a focusedapproach on Kashmir.
He said the foreign secretary has been directed to prepare a structure forthe Kashmir Cell and present before him for approval.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said it has also been decided to establish Kashmircells in Pakistan’s embassies in the key capitals. He said a focal personin each of these embassies will ensure coordinated effort.
The Foreign Minister said Pakistan is keeping a close eye on the evolvingsituation in occupied Kashmir and the process of consultations willcontinue.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi also warned the international community that India cancarry out any false flag operation near the Line of Control to divert worldattention from its illegal actions and human rights violations in occupiedKashmir. He said we have doubts on the Indian intent and actions. He,however, said the nation and its institutions are ready to respond to anyIndian belligerence.
The Foreign Minister said the UN Security Council meeting on Kashmir is abig diplomatic victory of Pakistan and defeat of India. He however saidthis is a continuing process and the country will fight the Kashmir causeon all fronts.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said today’s India is not that of Nehru but of Modiand there is a clear difference between the two.
