Big protests held outside UN Office in Tehran against India over Occupied Kashmir

TEHRAN – Big protests were held outside UN Office in Tehran against Indiaover Occupied Kashmir conflict in which protesters strongly condemnedillegal and inhuman acts of Indian Forces in Occupied territory.

A large number of Iranians, Kashmiris and Pakistanis protested in front ofUnited Nations office in Tehran on Sunday against recent act of Indian Govtof abrogation of article 370 and 35 A of the Indian constitution andrepression against the Kashmiris.

The protesters denounced the revocation of special status of Kashmir,relocation of non-Muslims to the region and Indians inhuman militarycrackdown on innocent Kashmiris as a clear violation of human rights,calling on the international community to address the issue.

They also demanded freedom from brutal Indian rule in Kashmir.

On August 5, India, through a presidential decree, revoked the specialautonomy status of the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir to fullyintegrate its only Muslim-majority state with the rest of the country. Themove has erupted protests all over Pakistan, while the Indiancontrolled Kashmir region is under lockdown. Pakistan and India both have aclaim over Kashmir in its entirety and had three wars over the disputedterritory.

In the lead-up to the move, India sent thousands of additional troops tothe disputed region, imposing a curfew on parts of it, arrested politicalleaders and shut down telecommunication lines.

Iran has called on the Indian government to reduce the tough securitymeasures in Kashmir, which have put restrictions on people’s lives.
