KARACHI: Two operatives of Mutahida Qaumi Movement-London’s (MQM-L) werearrested by Rangers and police in a joint operation conducted in OrangiTown on Wednesday.
According to Rangers’ spokesperson, the arrested suspects were identifiedas Bilala and Arshad had made a plan to target candidates of rival partiesahead of general elections set to be held on July 25.
He added that teams of target killers were set up in June by MQM-London’sSouth Africa network to disrupt the process of elections by killing thepolitical leaders.
During initial investigations, the suspects confessed to receivingfinancial assistance from MQM-London, spokesman added.
Around 150 people were martyred and over 250 others injured in the recentwave of terror attacks which hit political gathering in Peshawar, Bannu andMastung amid elections.
Among those killed were Awami National Party (ANP) leader Haroon Bilour andBalochistan Awami Party (BAP) candidate Siraj Raisani.
