HYDERABAD: Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Saturday said the human shield tactic employed by Major to combat stone peters in Occupied Kashmir cannot be made a standard operating procedure (SOP) in the Valley.
He said the armed forces are sensitive to human rights and always maintained good track record.
To a specific query on dealing with mobs targeting security forces, Gen Rawat clarified, “The use of a human shield cannot be made an SOP.”
The Army chief, in the recent past, had defended Gogoi’s controversial action, stating the Major’s decision prevented casualties and injuries. -TOI
