*ISLAMABAD: Massive irregularities amounting to Rs 8.27 trillion in theaccounts of federal government have been discovered by Audit Reports, a topofficial said here.*
Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), Javaid Jahangir says, ‘alongside Rs 8.2trillion, Rs 1.15 trillion of irregularities are found in the accounts ofprovincial department also.” He made these revelations while chairing ameeting of the policy board of the Department of Auditor General ofPakistan (DAGP) recently.
The recent policy board meeting discussed on audit themes recommendationsfor Public Sector Audit plan 2018-19.
There was a major paradigm shift when DAGP transformed all the codes ofaccounts and audit by replacing old codes/ manuals with the new financialaudit manual and new reporting templates meeting international reportingstandards requirements, the reported cited AGP as saying.
He said that the department sought better relationship with itsstakeholders by aligning its goals with the government reform agenda,improving communication with its stakeholders and working as partners tohelp clients in achieving their objectives economically, efficiently andeffectively.
