Imran Khan Has Twice Rejected the Deal Offer, Claims Rana Sanaullah

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has disclosed that the government made two serious attempts to negotiate a political settlement with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, but both efforts failed due to his unwillingness to compromise or accept any deal.

The revelation comes amid ongoing political tensions, with Imran Khan remaining incarcerated on multiple charges while his party continues to demand his release and fair elections.

Rana Sanaullah, a senior PML-N leader and key government figure, made these remarks in a recent exclusive interview with ARY News.

He stated that Imran Khan is not prepared for any agreement and shows no inclination to find a way out of the current impasse.

According to Sanaullah, the first serious initiative occurred around November 26, involving figures such as Mohsin Naqvi and Ali Amin Gandapur, before and after a planned PTI protest.

The second attempt involved individuals with close ties to Imran Khan who approached from abroad.

In both instances, initial agreements appeared possible, but Imran Khan later withdrew support.

Sanaullah emphasized that the conditions put forward by Imran Khan were unacceptable to the current administration.

He described this stance as either stubbornness or rigidity, asserting that the PTI founder is simply not interested in resolving the situation through dialogue.

This position has contributed to a prolonged deadlock in Pakistan’s political landscape.

Imran Khan has been in custody since 2023 following his ouster from power in April 2022 via a no-confidence vote.

His incarceration has sparked repeated protests by PTI supporters, allegations of political victimization, and concerns over judicial fairness.

The government maintains that legal processes are being followed independently.

Recent discussions have also touched on Imran Khan’s health, with family members expressing worry over reported vision issues in one eye.

Government officials, including Sanaullah, have countered by affirming that prompt and adequate medical care is provided in prison.

He has warned against politicizing health matters, insisting that PTI’s actions stem from a strategy to create instability rather than genuine concern.

Sanaullah has repeatedly stressed the government’s readiness for dialogue with opposition parties to advance national interests.

However, he claims PTI consistently rejects negotiation paths, preferring street agitation and confrontation.

This approach, he argues, aims to foster anarchy instead of constructive engagement.

The failed attempts highlight deep mistrust between Imran Khan and the ruling coalition, led by PML-N and its allies.

Analysts note that Imran Khan’s firm position may stem from his belief in popular support and demands for immediate elections, accountability of institutions, and reversal of what he calls undemocratic actions against him.

Supporters view his refusal as principled resistance against alleged establishment interference.

Critics, including government voices, see it as unwillingness to accept reality or compromise for national stability.

Pakistan’s political crisis has economic repercussions, with investor confidence affected by uncertainty.

International observers continue to monitor developments, urging all sides to pursue democratic resolutions.

Sanaullah’s disclosure underscores that no immediate breakthrough is likely without a shift in positions.

He questioned what more could be done when one party refuses engagement or concessions.

The statement reflects frustration within ruling circles over the persistent standoff.

As protests and legal battles continue, the path forward remains uncertain.

Observers suggest that sustained dialogue, possibly involving neutral mediators, could be essential to break the cycle.

For now, the government appears focused on maintaining order while PTI mobilizes support for its founder.

The political divide shows no signs of narrowing in the near term.

Imran Khan’s unyielding stance reinforces his image among followers as a leader unwilling to bend under pressure.

Whether this strategy yields long-term gains or prolongs instability is a matter of ongoing debate in Pakistan’s polarized environment.

Rana Sanaullah’s comments serve as a reminder of the challenges in bridging gaps amid high-stakes confrontations.
